Wadi
I’m from Malaysia, I’ve been here since July 2024.
I’m currently studying. for a Bachelor of Commerce, accounting, it’s an undergraduate program. I’m under a scholarship from the Government of Malaysia. It’s like a fast track for my studies here, I’m really enjoying it so far.
I like living in the moment. Maybe having a stroll around Hagley Park or the botanic gardens. Enjoying the breeze and enjoying views, I also enjoy playing guitar. Those little moments make life more enjoyable.
I like to take things slow with my life, just enjoying my time with friends. And the most crucial part is, because I’m like 8000 kilometres away from my family, I gotta find, you know, things that feel like home.
I mean, it’s almost two years since I’ve last seen my family. A lot of my friends have gone back to Malaysia at least once. So, yeah, I want to go back too but it is what it is, I have to do what I have to do here.
I have had to adapt to stuff that I learned here. I’m an executive of a club in UC which is the Canterbury Malaysian Student Society. To organize everything and balance that with my studies is a bit challenging, but It’s fun, of course, to give back to the community.
